Thijs is a seasoned internal auditor with more than 40 years of experience in internal audit. He was the chief audit executive of 6 companies and has an international profile. He worked in Brussels and London, led audit teams in the Americas and Asia and performed audits on every continent. Thijs teaches “Managing the Internal Audit Function” at the University of Amsterdam.

Thijs is a member of the IIA Netherlands and in the past 25 years was a committee member, board member and chairman of the board. He was for 7 years a member of the Quality Assessment Board of which the last 3 years as Chairman. He is an expert in performing quality assessments, coaching and training internal audit management and performing audit assignments in complex and challenging environments.
