Independence and objectivity

Two critical preconditions for effective internal audit: independence is freedom from conditions that threaten the ability of internal audit to fulfil its responsibilities in an unbiased manner; objectivity is the unbiased mental attitude that allows auditors to work without compromises. Threats to both must be managed at individual, engagement, functional and organisational levels.
